Dear Prospective Candidate:
We are pleased that you are considering entering the 2022 Miss Butler County Scholarship Competition which will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the Vagabond Event Center, 138 Whitestown Road, Lyndora PA.
The 2022 local competitions for the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Competitions are being conducted during a period when COVID-19, a pandemic, requires all parties involved to take extraordinary efforts to ensure the safety and health of everyone involved with the competition. Due to an abundance of caution, the following guidelines have been established for all parties involved with the competition and will be expected to adhere to them.
Instituted by the Miss PA Scholarship Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors
*Guidelines are subject to revision dependent upon current guidance issued by the CDC and the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Check date on “Volunteer COVID-19 Guidelines” for most current information.
MAOTeen competition maximum age for candidates increases to eighteen (18) years by December 31st from seventeen (17) years old by July 31st.
For the avoidance of doubt, Candidate cannot turn nineteen (19) years of age at any time during the calendar year in which she could compete at the State MAOTeen Competition (January 1st through December 31st).
Grandfather Clause for 2022 State and Local Candidate Agreement ONLY:
Since the age eligibility was revised after the start of the 2022 state & local competition season, Candidates who are: 1) eighteen (18) years of age on or after July 31, 2022 through December 31, 2022 (the year of the State Competition) may choose to compete in either the MAOTeen or Miss programs, as long as candidate is also a 2) high school graduate or equivalent by July 31, 2022. Note, this grandfather clause will not be in effect in the 2023 State & Local Competition season.
Exception: Since Alabama, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Utah did not hold competitions in 2021, if the Candidate exceeds the 17-year-old age eligibility in 2022, she is hereby “grandfathered” to continue competing in only these state’s MAOTeen Competitions as well as the 2022 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Competition as long as the Candidate is not 19 years old on December 31st, 2022.
Please note, this change is effective for all candidates who will compete in 2022 State Competitions, which includes all Local and State Competitions. If you have any questions, please contact your state Executive Director.
The Miss America Organization is thrilled that this change further strengthens the commitment to empower young women by providing scholarships and continuing our mission of preparing great women for the world, and preparing the world for great women.

You should submit your paperwork as soon as possible. First person with paperwork in, is last in program order.
Once we receive your entry materials you will receive a confirmation email. If we have eligibility questions, we will also make sure they are cleared up at that time. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please check back with us because it probably means that for some reason, we have not received your paperwork.
Paperwork bearing the logos of other local pageants may be submitted to the Miss Butler County Pennsylvania Competition provided it is identical in format to our paperwork, to avoid repeating the same paperwork for every competition. You may also be required to sign a Miss America local contract at some point leading up to the local competition.
All winners will advance to Miss Pennsylvania completion. In addition, all will receive a Miss America local crown, sash, and scholarship.
The private interview will take place on the date of the competition (March 13), during the morning or afternoon prior to the start of on-stage competition. The judges are seated, and the candidate is at a podium in front of the judges. The judges’ chairperson will introduce you and the questions begin immediately. Do not go to the judges table to shake hands with the judges. You will immediately go to the podium and begin to answer questions. For Teen Candidates the interview length is 8 minutes. The first 7 and ½ minutes are spent on questions and answers. At the 7 and ½ minutes mark, one of the judges will tell you that the formal part of your interview has been completed and ask if you wish to add anything at that time. If you choose to do so you have ½ minute to speak. It is your decision whether to end the interview at that point or to add something. Your decision does not influence your scoring but, if you chose to add something it does play a part in your scoring. Please remember that no visual aids, paperwork, or props may be brought into the interview.
